Whale's Tale - Grey Whale's tail - Laguna San Ignacio, Baja Calif Sur.... Whales are only seen in this position right before an extended deep dive. Whale watching season here is from January through March, when Grey whales migrate to the lagoons of Baja mate and calf. As a famous Mexican marine biologist says...

"they are the original wetbacks"...

Whale Watcher

Nothing is more beautiful than spending a day in Bahia Magdelena, trying to decide which whales to watch. On the way to the whales, flocks of herons and egrets, groups of sea lions, and dolphins are the appetizers to the whales. Bigger than the boats you get to ride in, these whales are peaceful, curious and playful. One mom actually "spit" - at me when I was trying to take her picture.

Gray whales are nowadays 13-14 mts long and 25-30 tons. In the past (whalers, Scammons' time) they reached 16 mts long and weights over 35 ton..
